Jonathan Bamber elected as Fellow of the AGU

It has been announced this week that Jonathan Bamber, PI of the GlobalMass project, has been elected as a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. This is a lifetime Fellowship and one of the most prestigious individual awards in the earth and environmental sciences.

AGU has elected Fellows every year since 1962, recognising members whose visionary leadership and scientific excellence have fundamentally advanced research in their respective fields. Only 0.1% of the AGU membership (of around 60,000) are awarded this honour each year and gaining the award for non-US citizens is rarer still.

The exceptional achievements, visionary leadership, talents, and dedication of 62 new AGU Fellows will be celebrated at this year’s Honors Tribute, to be held Wednesday, 11 December, at AGU Fall Meeting 2019 in San Francisco.
